Where spirituality,
self-awareness and philosophy
come together  in
martial arts

Lighting a candle is like teaching a martial arts lesson.  Every time you teach, you light a student's candle of enlightenment.  The more students that  learn, the more candles are lit.  The brighter the shining light, the more all students see outwardly the truth in good technique, and inwardly, spiritual enlightenment.  Our truth, our technique, and our system lives through, and in, the light.

Professor Skornia was sought out and interviewed extensively by the Los Angeles Times for ths front page story, "Bullets are Faster But Karate Can Help."  Skornia is quoted many times in this Sunday edition in 1982, 30 years ago.  Even that long ago, Skornia was considered one of the pioneers of traditional Karate going back to the 1950's.  He ran one of the largest and oldest dojos (martial arts schools) in the Los Angeles, California, area, headquarters near LAX.  He also pioneered the open-minded concept of offering other martial arts to his students such as Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Kung-fu.  He even offered a separate class in Thai Kick Boxing for fitness called Thaibo Power Kick Boxing.com.  Free copies are available by postal mail.  E-mail for directions

Speaking of major newspaper articles, there was a large and detailed article on the benefits of traditional Karate for children in the South Bay, Los Angeles, California largest newspaper, the Daily Breeze.  This article plus pictures was on the front page of the Life/Arts section, Sunday edition, 1996.  It was called, "Modern Samurai, Martial Arts Training for Youth Underscores Character and Discipline."  Note:  Prof. Skornia also developed a non-profit program for "at-risk" children over 30 years ago.  It served the greater South Bay at that time.  It continues to this day with Professor Skornia and high-ranking instructors, Jay Gilmore, John Mossman (works for Children's Services, County of Los Angeles), and is headed by the dedicated, youth instruction specialist, "Scooter" Rayburn.

The Inland-Imperial Headquarters for Riverside County is headed by 5th Dan, Rod Hefington.  You may e-mail the Hombu National Headquarters with your name, address, and phone number for a free referral.

Both of the articles cn be received by mail.  E-mail for directions on how to obtain.

Interesting note:  Professor Skornia was interviewed for an article in Newsweek Magazine in 1970.
